Governors

Abdul Majid Saddique - (Parent Governor)

Amer Khan - (Staff Governor)

I have been a staff governor at Copthorne since January 2012 after joining the school in June 2008 as a Learning Mentor. I became a governor to gain a better understanding of how the school is run and, ultimately, to be involved in the improvement of education, to raise teaching standards and, in return, raise the attainment of our children. I am dedicated to the role as I am a staff member, a resident and a parent with my two sons attending the school. I strongly feel you have to be able to challenge as well as support the senior leadership team to be a successful member of the governing body.

I have been a Governor at Copthorne for about 7 years, and this my second year as Chair. I went to Copthorne when I was younger, and my nieces currently attend Copthorne. I became a Governor so that I could get an insight into how schools are run, and to see how parents and members of the community can have an active role in improving educational attainment and achievement. As Chair of Governors I believe I have a key role in ensuring the governing body effectively supports senior leadership and staff within the school to ensure Copthorne continues to provide outstanding education to our children. I am passionate about my role as a governor and thoroughly enjoy it.
