National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders (NPQSL)

We offer a localised NPQSL programme through our partnership with Carnegie Leaders in Learning (Leeds Becket University). The six full-day events are delivered with a local context by local school leaders at a local venue, Horton Grange Primary School – our Leadership Campus. Full details of the programme can be found here. The dates the programme is available can be accessed via our online prospectus and booking system. Contact us for details of the next programme. Teaching Leaders Primary Associates (Year 1) and Fellows (Year 2) Programmes

Ambition Leadership are a national education charity who support the development of middle leaders in schools in challenging contexts. We are developing a partnership with Teaching Leaders to ensure a high quality leadership development offer is available to schools, and we believe what this charity offers is a powerful tool supporting school improvement. An overview of the programme can be viewed here.

The programme includes:

  • Leadership training (delivered locally, outside of school time)
  • An Impact Initiative focused on raising attainment
  • Coaching with an experienced school leader
  • Access to a local and national network of over 1000 primary middle leaders

Teaching Leaders work exclusively with schools in challenging contexts. They define this as schools which meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Ever 6 FSM of 50% or over or;
  • Ever 6 FSM of 25% – 50% AND under 80% of disadvantaged pupils achieving level 4 or above in reading, writing and maths and/or;
  • Under 60% of your pupils achieving level 4 or above in reading, writing and maths

Please note that infant schools are eligible only if they apply jointly with a junior school.

If you are uncertain whether you are eligible, please contact their regional team.

The Associate/first year of the programme is suited to newer middle leaders looking to build core leadership skills, develop confidence and take further ownership over their roles. The fellow/second year is selective and aims to stretch and grow high-potential middle leaders, helping them to deepen their impact. Middle leaders can join Year 1 (and then choose to apply to Year 2 if suitable), or join Year 2 directly. This programme costs £1000, for schools eligible for subsidies, for the full two-year programme. Contact Ambition Leadership for details of the next programme.
